Frequently Asked Questions About Exercise Classes

What exercise classes do you offer at Everybody Physiotherapy in Penrith?

Everybody Physiotherapy offers weekly supervised exercise classes including deep water aqua aerobics, physio-led pilates classes, falls prevention classes and diabetes exercise classes. All classes are run by qualified physiotherapists and exercise physiologists, making them suitable for people with health conditions, injuries or mobility limitations who want to exercise safely and effectively.

What is deep water aqua aerobics and who is it suitable for?

Deep water aqua aerobics is a low-impact cardiovascular class performed in our heated hydrotherapy pool. The buoyancy of the water reduces joint loading, making it ideal for people with arthritis, joint pain, osteoporosis, or those recovering from injury or surgery. It provides a genuine cardiovascular workout without the impact of land-based exercise. Classes run Saturday mornings and are open to non-patients.

What are Physio-led Pilates classes and how are they different from regular Pilates?

Our Physio-led Pilates classes are run by qualified physiotherapists who guide participants through exercises tailored to their needs during the session. Unlike standard studio Pilates, having a physiotherapist in the room means movements can be adjusted on the spot to suit your body, history and any injuries or limitations. Classes are suitable for a wide range of fitness levels and are a great option for people who want the benefits of Pilates with added clinical expertise.

What is a falls prevention class and who should attend?

Our falls prevention classes are designed for older adults who want to reduce their risk of falling and improve confidence, balance and strength. Falls are a leading cause of injury in people aged 65 and over, and research strongly supports targeted exercise as the most effective prevention strategy. Classes are run by our exercise physiologists and are suitable for any fitness level.

Do I need to be a patient at Everybody Physiotherapy to join an exercise class?

No — our exercise classes are open to the community, not just existing patients. However, we recommend calling ahead to discuss whether a class is appropriate for your health and fitness level. Some classes may benefit from an initial assessment to ensure the program is suitable. Call (02) 4721 1222 to find out more and book your spot.

Are your exercise classes suitable for people with injuries or chronic conditions?

Yes — this is exactly what sets our classes apart from commercial gyms or fitness studios. All classes are run by qualified physiotherapists or exercise physiologists who understand how to modify exercise for people with injuries, chronic conditions or disabilities. If you have concerns about whether a class is right for you, call us and we will advise you honestly.

How do I book an exercise class at Everybody Physiotherapy Penrith?

To book a spot in one of our exercise classes, call us on (02) 4721 1222. Class sizes are small to ensure individual attention and safety. Saturday aqua aerobics classes start at 8am and run until 10:30am. Let us know your health background when you call so we can direct you to the most suitable class.

Why attend exercise classes at a physiotherapy clinic rather than a gym or fitness studio?

Exercising at a physiotherapy clinic means you are supervised by qualified allied health professionals, not fitness instructors. If you have a health condition, injury history or are returning to exercise after a long break, this makes a significant difference to both safety and outcomes. Our onsite pool and gym give you access to a wider range of therapeutic exercise options in one location.
