Veterans often find that injuries sustained during service can make everyday activities more difficult. Over time, these conditions may reduce movement, independence, and overall quality of life. DVA-funded exercise programmes provide an effective way to manage these conditions and support long-term health and function. Each program is individually tailored to suit the veteran’s specific needs and goals.

Veterans with a DVA White Card and a referral from their GP may be eligible to participate in Exercise Physiology sessions to improve everyday function and wellbeing. At Everybody Physio, sessions may include gym, pool, or community-based exercise programs designed specifically for the individual. Treatment plans are structured, monitored regularly, and include written progress reports provided to your GP.

What a DVA White Card Covers

A DVA White Card covers treatment for approved service-related conditions linked to service in the Australian Defence Force. This may include access to DVA Allied Health Services such as Exercise Physiology and Physiotherapy.

When You May Be Eligible

You may be eligible for Exercise Physiology services if:

– Your condition has been recognised by DVA as service-related
– The injury or condition was sustained during training, deployment, or military duties
– Your GP provides a referral for Exercise Physiology
– The treatment plan supports rehabilitation and functional recovery

Why Choose Exercise Physiology?

Exercise Physiology is more than a fitness programme. Accredited Exercise Physiologists are university-trained allied health professionals with specialised knowledge in pain management, chronic conditions, injury rehabilitation, and disease management.

Programmes are designed to help improve:
– Strength and mobility
– Pain management
– Balance and function
– Long-term physical health
– Confidence with everyday activities

Common Conditions Treated

Many service-related injuries can continue to affect veterans years after their military service. For example, a knee meniscus injury sustained during training may later develop into osteoarthritis.

Current evidence-based management for knee osteoarthritis strongly supports targeted strengthening and exercise programmes. Our Exercise Physiologists at Everybody Physiotherapy can develop safe, effective programmes to help manage symptoms, improve joint function, and support long-term mobility!
